On Daggets Creek

My main "gig" is photography but I also have done quite a bit of video. I am an all around video producer that both shoots and edits - and often writes and directs! In 2020 I started a shoot-a-month project in which I committed to producing one creative project each month. I have continued this project into 2021 and plan on going until I am out of ideas! Shoot-a-month is all about trying something different, working with new people and bringing something uplifting into the world - or maybe just having some fun! This month I worked with the beautiful…

Modeling Below Zero

There are two paths you can take when it is below zero in Wisconsin. You can huddle around the fire and dream of summer, or you can get off your butt and do a photo shoot! Dreamera Marie and I braved the frigid cold on a Sunny Saturday to bring a Winter fantasy to life. I bundled up and she froze! But we both had fun; hand warmers all around! You can see the full gallery at Dreamera at 14 Below Zero Check out Dreamera's Instagram @dreamera.marie or my Instagram @jalanlee I am always looking for creative projects and models…

A Snowy Thursday

Thursday Afternoon in Neenah from Jalanlee on Vimeo. Thursday in February in Wisconsin and its snowing. Imagine that! Tomorrow morning will be busy clearing the snow but for now I enjoyed the beautiful snowfall. Here is a a short capture of that beauty. The music is a live loop I recorded. It was done with Ableton Live 10, Ableton Push 2, my Roland Juno keyboard and my Gretsch Electromatic guitar. Just a 4 chord progression with a little playing around. You can see more of my video work on my Video Page

Greenhouse in Velvia 50 Film

Fuji Velvia 50 film is specially designed to accentuate colors. This gallery was shot in Greiling Farms Greenhouse, Denmark, on medium format film. I used my Bronica ETRS camera and a 150mm lens. The film was developed by Richard Photo Lab and I scanned the negatives using an Epson Perfection V600. The colors were not digitally manipulated - what you see is what Velvia delivers. Funky skin tones but the colors sure pop!

Living Coral – Pantone Color for 2019

The Pantone color of the year is Living Coral. They call it "an animating and life-affiriming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge." Well, sounds impressive, I guess. On a recent safari I captures ice boats cruising on Lake Winnebago and thought they would make a great use of living coral. Here is the original photo: The next step, in photoshop, is to select all the highlights and create a new layer with a highlight mask. You then use the color picker to brush Living Coral into all the highlights. The next step…

Trout Museum at Night

A kind of boring building can become magical at night with the right lighting.  Maybe its the same with people; if we see them in the proper light we find out who they really are...  Maybe that thought is too deep for a Wednesday morning... Anyhow, this photo is kind of extraordinary in a way.  Not too many years ago this photo would have been impossible.  I took this handheld at 1/30s and ISO 4000.  Big deal you might say.  Well, only a few years ago ISO 4000 was impossible - no film (at least available to a normal person)…

Frosty Morning on the Wiouwash Trail

A cold and frosty morning on the Wiouwash State trial - Neenah.  Last night it was really damp and the frost was everywhere this morning.  And then around luch time the snow came in and dropped 4-6 inches.  I took this before work and you can see the mist hanging in the air.  As always I over exposed by about 1/2 a stop to get the snow to white.  I also did a bit of burning in photoshop to smooth out the trial. Canon 5d MkIII | Canon 100mm macro f/2.8 |  1/100 sec at f/16 See all of my…
