Greenhouse in Velvia 50 Film

Fuji Velvia 50 film is specially designed to accentuate colors. This gallery was shot in Greiling Farms Greenhouse, Denmark, on medium format film. I used my Bronica ETRS camera and a 150mm lens. The film was developed by Richard Photo Lab and I scanned the negatives using an Epson Perfection V600. The colors were not digitally manipulated - what you see is what Velvia delivers. Funky skin tones but the colors sure pop!

Medium Format Film Test Shooting

I continue the learning curve on my new Bronica ETRS medium format film camera. The wonderful AJ helped me with a series of test shots using a variety of apertures and shutter speeds. First up - shutter speed! The conclusion here is I cannot consistently shoot handheld below 1/125 second. While I hit some shots at 1/60sec it was only through luck I think. THis contrasts with my 35mm minimum handheld speed of 1/30 to 1/60 of a second. Below is a comparison shot at 1/125sec and 1/60sec Next up is exposure variation via aperture control. Petty Kings in Neenah – Film

Wednesday night concert in Neenah was the Petty Kings out of Chicago. Excellent tribute band to the Great Tom Petty. These are medium format film shots with my Bronica ETRS camera. I used Kodak Portra 400 film and a Zenza Bronica 150mm f/3.5 lens.

Copper Box in Neenah – Film Test

Copper Box played in Neenah on a beautiful July evening. All these photos are using my Bronica medium format camera. All photos 150mm lens and used Kodak Portra 400 film. The film was "over exposed" one stop to test the look - I metered at 200 ISO in stead of 400. Pretty amazing how much detail in both the shadows and highlights when the film is pushed a bit - much better than digital. And no, I am not giving up my digital cameras! Alexis – Bronica Test Shoot

The first rolls of test film on the "new" Bronica came back and I am just blown away! First, the exposures are pretty good and light meter balancing-ambiant-and-flash skills didn't fail me. Second, both lenses are perfect. Last, the pictures are stunning (at least to me) and have that unique medium format film "look". While I might miss the old Kodak the Bronica will be an amazing investment and I will have a lot of happy clients going forward. Watch for more test shoots in the future! New Camera – Bronica ETRS

Newest addition to the fleet is a Bronica ETRS medium format film camera. Manufactured around 1981 the Bronica was a lower cost, but still high quality alternative to the Swedish Hasselblad 500 series. I will be shooting though a 75mm f/2.8 and the wonderful 150mm f/3.5 lenses. The first test rolls of film are off to the developers and I will post pictures soon. Why a film camera?
